The chapel is set over three floors including the main chapel area, gallery mezzanine floor and lower ground floor, providing an inspiring, intimate, accommodating and flexible setting with space to enjoy both ceremony and reception.
The ground floor chapel is a beautifully unique space which still retains historic features including original wooden box pews and a stunning and magnificently restored working organ, set behind a carved wooden altar.
The mezzanine gallery floor enables an extra special vista ensuring guests don’t miss a single picture-perfect moment.
Downstairs the lower ground floor provides an additional area with a bar and audio facilities available for drinks reception, music and dancing. We want to make your day perfect and will always be as accommodating and as flexible as possible, while remaining remarkable value for money.
The central location of the chapel and the proximity to transport links means that it’s perfectly accessible for local or commuting visitors.

A perfect venue for a civil wedding, a hidden gem!

We found the George Street Chapel online when we were looking for a wedding venue. My family run a bar/function room so we only wanted somewhere to have the marriage ceremony. When I saw the photographs online I knew instantly it was the right place for us. I have always lived in Oldham and I had never noticed this building. We booked it without a viewing. A few weeks later we went up and met Sue, who showed us round. We were blown away! We had 50 day guests and we felt it was perfect.
The George Street Chapel also has a beautiful room in the basement for the reception. We would have used this room under different circumstances. We only had one more visit back to the Chapel before the wedding (even though we could have had more) where Sue helped us decide how to set the seating in the centre of the Chapel and we also sorted music etc. My father is disabled. Sue informed us of the entrance in the basement and the lift that he could use. We also booked the 2 parking spaces at the front of the Chapel for the wedding car. On the day of wedding everything went to plan. Some of our guests chose to use the upstairs seating but the majority used the seating on the main floor.
I could not recommend this venue enough! Perfect for a civil wedding but also good for any other occasion. I feel it is a hidden gem and not many people in Oldham have been as lucky as us to find it.
